Traffic Information Scavenging with Intelligent Public Transportation System

An intelligent transportation system (ITS) is designed to provide service in different modes of transport and traffic management for safer and better traffic control. As information of traffic condition is important in increasing the efficiency of traffic control system and reducing accidents, precise information about the traffic condition and biomedical data of drivers such as detection of driver exhaustion, is required for transmitting around the vehicular network. Such information could be extracted especially for long distance public transportation authorities to improve job assignment and driver rotation schedules, thus increasing the safety of the transportation system. Due to the conventional protocol of vehicular networks is suffered from throughput limitation, thus genetic algorithm network coding (GANC) is implemented into the vehicular network scenario with different data requirements among vehicles to increase the complex data traffic throughput.

Interactive Training Aids of Virtual Hammer Drop Test for Impact Resistance Structure Design

During economical life of building structure, loads that applied onto it are generally divided into static loads and dynamic loads. There are many standards such as Euro code, Indian Standard etc. which can be used to design building structure for sustaining static loads. In contrast to static loads, impact load is a dynamic load which has not been investigated adequately. While engineering of structures over the past decades has increasing promoted safety features, unpreventable fatalities and injuries incidents due to impact load continue to be commonplace. Hence, design guideline for impact resistance of structural member is required to assist the engineers or engineering students in studying and understanding the impact response of structure. This innovation exhibits the development of design guideline for impact resistance structure. The guideline aims to educate the engineers to design the structure which can resist the impact load effectively. Hammer drop test and finite element method are used to investigate impact response of structural member and evaluates the required critical impact force to crack the structural member. This value assesses the capability of structural member to resist impact load and develop the impact resistance design guideline of structural member.

GPS Enabled Driver Alert System (DAS) for Online Vehicle Driver Physiological Monitoring

Driver’s physiological estimator with GPS locator is embedded in Driver Alert System (DAS) to monitor driver’s physiological changes and to locate the exact location of the driver. The product improves the conventional driver’s drowsiness estimator via integration of biosensors for physiological detections directly rather than heavy computational image processing on eye detection and blinking rate. Comparing to the conventional Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS), this product deals with heart beat pulse signals and skin temperature for driver drowsiness detection. At the same time, the exact location of the driver can be identified by traffic management system. This invention can be promoted in both national and international markets especially long distance drivers who need more concentration while driving in order to reduce the risk of accident.

Evolvable Traffic Optimizer (ETO) for Integrated Traffic Solution

Evolvable Traffic Optimizer (ETO) is invented to relieve the congestion at traffic intersection. It is portable and can be flexibly installed in various existing traffic light control system. Instead of using predetermined “green” light timer for each way (conventional traffic light control system), this device is able to predict the traffic behavior as well as to determine a suitable “green” light duration based on the evolutionary algorithm. This device is learning and evolved to obtain better traffic solution to be more effectively for various traffic conditions in urban area due to unpredictable congestion during the peak hour. It can be promoted in both national and international markets especially in urban area to improve the smoothness of congested traffic flows.
