Introduction

  • The following system is based on an RFID tag feature for students to experience ease of payment, ease of registration, security and instant identification inside the university.
  • It is coupled with a centralized online database system and it can work with modules of various functions. On top of that the wireless reader and system can be easily deployed at any place for any application, offering flexibility and portability.

Motivation

  • Current barcode matrix cards require a line-of-sight for reading and it is susceptible to surface damage.
  • With RFID tags, all that requires is just a tap on the reader. In that sense, it will provide a faster and smoother mode of transaction.

How does it work?

  • Effortlessly, the RFID reader obtains the ID from the tag. The reader then decodes the signal and passes the user’s ID to the kiosk wirelessly.  With the ID, the Student Management System will process event, attendance, academic or monetary information to and from the database through different modules.
  • Consequently, all these modules are interlinked to one another via a centralized database.

Outcome

  • The developed system will prove to be helpful for the university’s administration process as it will speed up personnel identification and perform efficient data mining in a huge university environment.
